Volcanoes Safaris was started by Uganda-born Praveen Moman, who first explored the Virungas as a 12-year-old boy alongside his father prior to the Asian Expulsion in 1972.
Established in 2009, the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust (VSPT) is a non-profit organization that connects four luxury lodges to the neighboring communities and conservation activities. Guests can participate in give back activities and a portion of proceeds from each trip goes to the VSPT.
Jane Goodall Institute Uganda (JGI) and Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust (VSPT) announce a long-term partnership for supporting the threatened chimpanzee population at Kyambura Gorge. The plight of a small community of 28 chimpanzees, isolated from other chimpanzee populations has brought these two organizations together to support their future survival, in collaboration with the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
