Vail, Colorado (April 29, 2024): Sonnenalp Hotel, a premier luxury resort nestled in the heart of Vail, Colorado, has been named to MICHELIN Guide's first-ever list of hotels to receive MICHELIN Keys for the exceptional experiences and services to their guests. The family-owned and operated Sonnenalp Hotel joins seven other Colorado hotels to receive One MICHELIN Key, which denotes "A very special stay." This esteemed accolade marks Sonnenalp Hotel as one of the outstanding establishments in the inaugural list of MICHELIN Key hotels in the United States, which debuted on April 24, 2024
The MICHELIN Guide's introduction of the Key symbolizes a new standard of excellence in the hospitality industry, recognizing hotels that embody the values of quality, service, and hospitality. With meticulous attention to detail, Sonnenalp Hotel has consistently provided unparalleled hospitality, earning it a place among the finest establishments in the hospitality industry.
The MICHELIN Guide praises the Sonnenalp Hotel, sharing, “The idea of Bavaria in the Rockies may raise eyebrows, but it’s no gimmick — this remarkably authentic Alpine-style resort is owned by the same Faessler family that opened the original Sonnenalp hotel in Ofterschwang in the years immediately following the First World War. It’s the sort of personality that no contemporary designer could possibly fake: almost more European than its counterparts in the Alps, and it’s the perfect antidote to the commercial luxury on offer elsewhere in Vail.”
Sonnenalp Hotel is the epitome of luxury and sophistication, offering guests a unique blend of European charm and Rocky Mountain hospitality. From its elegant accommodations and world-class dining to its extensive amenities and breathtaking surroundings, Sonnenalp Hotel provides an unforgettable retreat for travelers seeking an exceptional experience in Vail. Guests can enjoy a European-style spa, an indoor/outdoor pool, and six restaurants, including Ludwig’s Breakfast, which serves an over-the-top breakfast buffet, and the popular King’s Club for evening cocktails, light bites, and live music. Guests of the Sonnenalp Hotel have exclusive access to the Sonnenalp Club in Edwards, a golfer’s paradise with preferred tee times, tennis courts, pickleball, outdoor swimming pools, and a 10,000 sq.ft—fitness center.
"We are thrilled and honored to receive One MICHELIN Key," said Johannes Faessler, Owner and General Manager of Sonnenalp Hotel. "This recognition is a testament to our team's dedication to creating memorable experiences for our guests time and time again. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and look forward to continuing to exceed expectations."
