Go2Africa Unveils “Adventures in Africa”:
Immersive Journeys Beyond the Traditional Safari
New curated experiences offer travelers adrenaline-fueled endurance, “slow” sensory exploration, and community-led conservation
Cape Town, South Africa (April 27, 2026): Go2Africa, part of Nawiri Group, the multi-award-winning travel specialist, announces the launch of “Adventures in Africa”. These new curated journeys respond to a growing shift in traveler behavior, as many travelers are no longer seeking a safari alone, but are increasingly combining it with active, adventure-led experiences before, during, or after their trip. From trail running and mountain biking to trekking and immersive expeditions, this rise in “movement-led travel” reflects a desire to stay active while forging a deeper, more personal connection to the landscapes, wildlife, and communities they encounter.
“Travelers are drawn to experiencing Africa in greater depth: moving through landscapes and cultures, and returning with new understanding and perspective—rather than crossing items off checklists or seeing fleeting highlights,” said James Steele, Africa Safari Expert at Go2Africa. “It’s an exciting shift, because movement-led travel fosters authentic, lasting memories and transforms travelers in profound ways.”
A Spectrum of Adventure:
Through this new concept, guests can tailor their journeys based on their desired level of physical and sensory engagement. Many guests seek “slow journeys” – moving at a sensory pace fully attuned to the wildlife and quiet rhythms of the land, while others are drawn to “movement with meaning,” where experiences are designed to support vital conservation and community programs. For high-performance explorers, the collection offers endurance challenges across raw, rugged terrain that push participants to their physical limits. The portfolio reveals a side of the continent that moves beyond the traditional game drive.
Featured Adventures for 2026 and Beyond:
Mountain Biking at Few & Far Luvhondo: Located in the “Forgotten Mountains” of the Soutpansberg Range, this experience offers moderate to demanding trails ranging from about 2 to 10 km. Riders navigate red rock cliffs and ancient baobab forests, encountering wildlife like vervet monkeys and eagles, while visiting local Venda villages to learn about the region’s deep cultural heritage.
Okavango to Tsodilo Ultra-Trail in Botswana: Launching in April 2026, this 100 km, four-night expedition links two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The route traverses the Okavango Panhandle, Kalahari scrub, and fossilized dunes. Participants stay at a sleep-out camp hosted by the local San Bushman community. This non-competitive journey supports local youth development and is open to groups of 4 to 16 runners.
Ubumwe Women’s Trail in Rwanda: Scheduled for February 2027, Singita will host its inaugural all-women’s event in Rwanda’s remote northwest, near Volcanoes National Park. The Ubumwe (Unity) trail includes a 15 to 18 km run, gorilla trekking, and a hike to Dian Fossey’s original Karisoke Research Center. Proceeds directly support the Fossey Fund’s Village Vitality Project, empowering local women through education, entrepreneurship, and financial planning – strengthening livelihoods and the environment.
Gorilla Trekking at Erebero Hills, Uganda: On the northern edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Erebero Hills, opening in August 2026, is defined by sweeping views, thoughtful sustainable design, and a deep connection to its surroundings. Translated as “a place where you can see far,” the lodge is set across 45 acres of reforested land, providing a contemporary springboard for life-changing gorilla trekking expeditions.
Run the Wild at Ol Pejeta: Running through Ol Pejeta Conservancy with rangers is one of the most personal ways to experience the wild through the daily realities of those on the frontline of conservation. Setting off at first light, the 5–7 km route across breathtaking plains demands a good level of fitness, as runners move alongside rangers during their training. Limited to six guests per run, it offers a deeply immersive opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of their work, while seeing the landscape and its wildlife from their perspective. Funds raised through immersive activities such as this directly support wildlife protection, ranger patrols, and research – particularly for rhino conservation.
Heart-Pounding Heights and Thundering Waters at Victoria Falls: Known as Africa's Adventure Capital, Victoria Falls provides an extraordinary range of heart-racing experiences. Often described as home to some of the wildest white-water in the world, the Zambezi's low-water season from August to September delivers prime rafting conditions. Guided by experienced professionals, rafters navigate a thrilling sequence of rapids – including formidable Grade 5 sections – interspersed with calmer stretches that reveal the scale and beauty of the Batoka Gorge.
