Piedmont, Italy (June 4, 2026): Casa di Langa, the five-star eco-luxury hotel located in the heart of Piedmont’s culinary and viticultural region, announces the launch of the Casa di Langa ‘Artist Experience,’ inviting artists to immerse themselves in the Langhe countryside. Developed in partnership with AVP Art Advisory, the new program deepens the dialogue between contemporary creative practice, the environment, and the heritage of Piedmont, setting the foundation for an ongoing cultural pillar at Casa di Langa while inviting hotel guests into the artistic process through exclusive artist-led workshops.

The launch of the annual residency comes at a momentous time for the region, aligning with the recent proclamation of the neighboring city of Alba as the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art for 2027. The Casa di Langa Artist Experience amplifies this regional celebration by bringing contemporary art into conversation with the Langhe’s renowned landscapes, community and history.

From July 5 to 10, celebrated Italian artist Angiola Gatti will serve as the inaugural Artist Experience. Born in Turin, the birthplace of the Arte Povera movement, Gatti’s artistic philosophy stems from her local background. Working at the boundary of painting and drawing, she famously utilizes the everyday ballpoint pen as her primary instrument, a nod to Arte Povera’s championing of common, accessible tools.

“The ballpoint pen brings me closer to my work in a physical way,” says Gatti. “At times, the canvas is nearly carved by the sheer force and physical nature of this process. Immersing myself in the villages and vineyards of the Langhe presents a canvas to welcome new intuitions, letting the landscape shape each intuitive line and motion.”

During her five-night immersion at Casa di Langa, Gatti will draw inspiration from Casa di Langa and the surrounding region, exploring the property’s private estate, taking daily walks through its own vineyards, and taking in the views across the valley toward Barolo, Barbaresco, and Alta Langa. She will channel the landscape, estate vineyards, villages, culinary heritage, and spirit of the region into a singular, original artwork. Gatti’s piece will translate her spontaneous impulses and memories of the this stunning landscape into a complex visual form, often requiring the ink of 30 to 40 ballpoint pens to complete.

“Angiola Gatti’s connection to Piedmont and her intuitive, tactile methodology mirror Casa di Langa’s respect for the land and human connection,”  notes Ashley Elston, Art Manager at Krause. “As the region looks forward to Alba’s landmark year as the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art for 2027, this residency establishes the hotel’s ties to the cultural and artistic history of the region.

The program is designed to be highly collaborative, transforming the hotel stay into a memorable, shared creative journey. During her residency, Gatti will host an exclusive Meet-and-Greet and Aperitivo on Tuesday, July 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., offering hotel guests a glimpse into her creative process. Following the reception, she will lead an art-based guest workshop aligned with Casa di Langa’s environmental mission. The workshop is open to all hotel guests, inviting participants to explore line, form and nature through the artist’s chosen mediums, with materials provided by the property.
