African Bush Camps Foundation and Go2Africa Advance Maunga Secondary School Development with Completion of Science Laboratory
Maunga Village, Zambia (June 1, 2026): African Bush Camps Foundation (ABCF), in partnership with Go2Africa, has completed the construction of a fully equipped science laboratory as part of the ongoing development of Maunga Secondary School. This milestone expands access to quality education for learners in Maunga Village and surrounding communities while strengthening opportunities for future learning and growth.
The completion of the science laboratory forms part of a broader initiative to establish a fully functioning secondary school, addressing long-standing barriers to continued education in this remote region.
A partnership driving progress
Through this collaboration, Go2Africa contributed USD 60,000 towards critical infrastructure development, including classroom blocks, ablution facilities, and the completed science laboratory. Together with ABCF’s implementation and community-led approach, these investments strengthen both the learning environment and student wellbeing.
The ongoing development of Maunga Secondary School is designed to support learners and educators through improved educational infrastructure. Alongside the newly completed science laboratory, future phases include additional classrooms to accommodate growing learner numbers, student dormitories for learners travelling from distant communities, and teacher accommodation aimed at attracting and retaining qualified educators.
Addressing a critical gap in access
Access to secondary education has long been a challenge for families in Maunga Village, with the nearest school located more than 20 kilometres away. This has historically limited learners’ ability to continue beyond primary school.
The development of Maunga Secondary School will enable learners from Maunga and six surrounding villages to continue their education closer to home, reducing financial strain on families while creating greater opportunities for academic achievement, personal growth, and future employment.
Early impact and future potential
The completion of the science laboratory marks an important step towards improving the quality of education available to learners in the region, particularly within STEM subjects.
As the broader school development progresses, the initiative is expected to expand access to education for more than 300 learners, improve learning outcomes through enhanced facilities, strengthen pathways to further education and employment, and create local economic opportunities through job creation. Importantly, more than 50 percent of the learners are expected to be young women, supporting greater inclusion and access to opportunity.
