Cape Town, South Africa (October 08, 2026): African Bush Camps, a luxury safari operator with bespoke itineraries across Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe, has long pioneered family safari travel by making authentic African safaris accessible, educational and inspiring for guests of all ages. While many safaris impose strict age restrictions that exclude children, African Bush Camps believes exceptional safaris should be experienced together as a family, with special Experiences designed to be shared across generations.

African Bush Camps want families to go home having a greater appreciation for the natural world, to learn about ecosystems, different cultures, communities, and the importance of protecting the natural world. They know that traveling with young ones can take additional planning, and as an operator they work to make each adventure seamless for families. That means having experienced teams, being flexible, understanding the needs of different ages, and making sure parents feel comfortable and relaxed.

As reported by Go2Africa’s 2025 State of Safari Report, family travel continues to play a significant role in the industry, now representing 28% of safari inquiries–a segment only gaining more momentum. African Bush Camps leans into this growing demand by ensuring age is not a barrier to experiencing authentic Africa. Through expert guides, tailored itineraries and safe, immersive programming, African Bush Camps curates accessible and engaging adventures that capture younger guests while meeting each family’s unique needs and preferences.

“Travel has always been very important to my family. We have been fortunate to explore many parts of the world together, and I have seen first-hand how much children learn from being exposed to different places, cultures, people and ways of life. For me, that is one of the greatest gifts travel can offer,” said Beks Ndlovu, Founder and CEO of African Bush Camps.

“That is why it has always been important to me that we create Experiences where families can travel together, without age being a barrier. If we can give parents the opportunity to bring their children into these wild places and experience Africa together, we are not only creating wonderful family memories, we are helping the next generation develop a deeper appreciation for nature, wildlife, and the world around them. I believe that kind of education stays with you for life,” Ndlovu added.

Across Southern Africa’s most iconic landscapes, African Bush Camps welcomes families with thoughtful accommodations and remarkable family adventures:

The Ngwana Club: Turning the Bush into a Learning Experience

Fundamental to the African Bush Camps experience is The Ngwana Club–named after the Setswana word for “explorer.” The club is specifically integrated across all of African Bush Camps’ family-friendly Experiences, ensuring young travelers aren’t just tagging along, but participating in their own age-appropriate adventures. Led by trained guides who prioritize safety alongside discovery, the program turns the bush into an interactive classroom, igniting curiosity while allowing parents to relax knowing their children are in expert hands.

While specific activities are tailored to the unique environment of each property, core offerings across all family-friendly Experiences include:

  • Nature Walks and Junior Guide Certification: Accompanied by a guide and a parent, children embark on nature walks around the Experience, learning to decode animal tracks, identify bird calls, discover traditional medicinal plants, and spot the ‘Little 5.’ Afterwards, young adventurers are officially certified as ‘Junior Guides’, encouraging continuous learning about future conservation and wildlife preservation.

  • Traditional Storytelling and Drumming: Guides share our heartlands’ history and folklore through performance and interactive drumming sessions that impart traditional legends and stories. In this way, children can learn more about different cultures, bringing local history and culture vividly to life.

  • Bush Crafting and Beading: Workshops where young guests can get creative, inspired by their new surroundings. They can make bracelets and necklaces as mementos of their time in the bush, as well as enjoying coloring and picture painting.
