Guests can visit a Glacier Dog Camp. After a short and scenic helicopter flight to a nearby ice field, you’ll experience the great Alaska sport of dogsledding. Your guide will explain the origin of sled dog breeds, mushing history, and the Iditarod known as “The Last Great Race on Earth.” Once the dogs are harnessed, you’ll take to the trail with your guide.
Behind the lodge, the Wolverine Ridge trail with a maximum altitude gain of 3,000 feet, offers intriguing hiking, wildlife spotting, and panoramic views of the valley below and beyond Denali. This area showcases a fascinating turn-of-the-century Gold Rush history.
Winterlake Lodge has off-grid self-contained electric, sewer, and water systems.
